Doors @ 6:00pm - All Ages
@ THE TROCADERO, 10th & Arch

Wooooo! Nile, Unexpect, and Warbringer! I personally think the other two bands should do the metal community a favor and drop off the face of the earth, but hey - that's just me. This looks like it's gonna be a killer show, so come out and support the reigning pharoahs of death metal - muthafkin' NILE, alongside newjack old-school thrashers Warbringer and neoclassical nutjobs Unexpect. I'll be there having a chat with the headliners and thrashing like it's 1986, and I suggest you do the same.
Be there, or you're officially fired from metal.

NEUROSIS in NYC!!!

Legendary sludge/hardcore/doom/experimental/ambient noisemongers NEUROSIS has scheduled two late-January shows for New York City. Here's the info (taken from Lambgoat.com):

1/24 New York, NY @ Brooklyn Masonic Temple w/ US Christmas
1/25 New York, NY @ Brooklyn Masonic Temple w/ A Storm Of Light

Tickets are available on Ticketweb (http://ticketweb.com/user/?region=xxx&query=search&interface=ticketweb&n...)

If you don't listen to Neurosis, or at the very least know and respect who they are, you're officially kicked out of heavy music. Forever.
Seriously. It's NEUROSIS, kids.

I already got my tickets for the Friday (1/25) show; they come out to $29.50, and I'm 100% sure that this show will be worth every penny!

Metal/Loud Rock Update 11/13/07

Sinamore - dark, melodic doom/rock ffo latter-era sentenced, anathema

Rob Rock - balls-out traditional heavy metal

Elvenking - folk-influenced power metal

Hardingrock - new project from Emperor's Ihsahn, his wife Starofash, and Knut Buen; folk/rock focused on the harding fiddle, Norway's
national instrument. A lot cooler/weirder than you may expect.

Sear Bliss - Hungary's most epic export; raging black metal complimented by triumphant battle horns

Syrach - hands down one of the best doom albums of the year. Heavy, emotive death/doom.

Svartsot - a new favorite of mine. melodic folk/death metal; imagine the trollish offspring of Amon Amarth and Finntroll, with a little
Eluveitie and Helcarexe thrown in. AWESOME.

ENSLAVED Tonight @ the Croc Rock!!!

Norwegian progressive black/viking metal legends, ENSLAVED, are headlining at the Croc Rock Cafe in Allentown, PA tonight. The tour package is hella lame (Arsis? The freaking Agonist? Ugh) but Enslaved is beyond amazing live, and Philly locals Sil Veth are opening. If you dig great melodic black metal, or are into technical melodic metal (Arsis fans) or are into, uh, crappy generic metalcore with some dumb broad shrieking about the environment (The Agonist; WORST.BAND.EVER.) you should definitely check this one out. The venue's about an hour away from Philly (still beats hauling your ass up to NYC) and tickets are only 13 bucks if you get 'em from Sil Veth!

Giddy

I'm so excited.

I picked up all four of Forefather's full-lengths while I was at work today (hooray for Candlelight Records' extensive distro and employee discounts!).

Anglo-Saxon black/folk metal = <3

WKDU Loud Rock Update 10/24/07

So Evan told me that I've been sending these out before he actually, er, adds the CDs. Whoops. With that in mind, I'm re-sending this out (with a few new adds tacked on for this week). Have at it.

We've got a decent crop of adds this week -
nothing tooo exciting, but there were a couple gems. I can't figure out
why so much crappy hardcore/metalcore and prog/power keeps sneaking its
way into the metal box, and why every other band this week was doing that
stupid "we're thrash metal but with hardcore vocals and blatant
breakdowns, yeeeah!!" nonsense. I hate that stuff, but other people like it,
soo...the best of those albums made the cut. This time.
Check-check-check-check it out!

DETHKLOK The Dethalbum - Loudest, fastest, most brutal, most epic, most
